Virgin Voyages’ Pool Deck, Galley, Gym & Hidden Calm Spaces Explained
Deck 15 on Virgin Voyages is where most sailors spend their days — but very few ever fully understand it.
It’s part pool deck, part food hall, part gym, part wellness zone, and part secret escape hatch when the ship feels busy. On sea days it can feel chaotic. At the right moments, it’s quietly brilliant.
In this walkthrough, I take you step-by-step around Deck 15, showing you:
- Where the calm actually is
- How the Galley really flows
- Where the gym spaces are hidden
- Where to work, hide, cool down, or recover
- And which spots most people walk straight past
This is a real-time orientation, not a brochure tour — designed to help you feel confident the moment you step onboard.
Starting Outside: The Quiet Side of the Galley
We begin on the outside seating area of the Galley, and it’s no accident.
This space is often overlooked, yet it’s one of the most reliable places on the ship to:
- Sit quietly
- Look out over the wake
- Eat without fighting for a table
- Or work on a laptop with airflow and shade
If the Galley feels overwhelming inside, step out here first. It instantly resets the experience.
Extra tip:
This area also wraps underneath the catamaran net, which means you get a view of the ship’s wake without the noise of the main pool deck.
The “Secret Corner” & Stairs to Deck 16
Just around the corner is one of Deck 15’s most underrated spots: a shaded nook near the stairs up to Deck 16.
It’s:
- Quiet
- Breezy
- Surprisingly good for getting work done
- Rarely crowded
If you need a break from music, chatter, or sun — this is your move.
Inside the Galley: How It Really Flows
Walking inside brings you into the Galley, Virgin Voyages’ food hall — which can feel confusing at first.
Key things to know:
- Seating at the back starboard side is often ignored
- Not all eateries open at the same time
- You can order from tables or counters
- Some of the best food isn’t obvious at first glance
Standouts on Deck 15 include:
- Hot Off The Press (breakfast & toast options)
- Let’s Taco About It (hard to beat, especially for lunch)
- Pops & Champagne — the ice lollies are genuinely elite, and you don’t need to buy champagne to enjoy them
If the Galley feels chaotic, slow down. The flow reveals itself once you stop trying to “solve” it.
Here is my Ultimate Galley Guide
B-Complex: Build & Balance (Hidden in Plain Sight)
Just beyond the Galley is B-Complex, home to:
- Strength training
- Free weights
- Pilates & yoga studios (behind mirrored doors)
Many people miss this entirely.
If you’ve booked a class and feel lost — this is where you’re going.
Starboard side. Look for mirrors. That’s the tell.
Burn & Bike + Spin Studio (Where Classes Actually Happen)
Moving toward the mid-ship elevators brings you to Burn & Bike:
- Cardio equipment
- Treadmills
- Bikes
The spin studio is tucked away and easy to miss — often behind closed doors. If you’re late, it can feel like it doesn’t exist.
If spin is important to you, arrive early and note this location on day one.
The Wellbeing Pool, Hot Tubs & Juice Bar
Back outside again and you’ll find:
- The Wellbeing Pool
- Two quieter hot tubs
- Sun loungers that fill quickly on sea days
Nearby is Gin & Tonic, which doubles as:
- A bar later in the day
- A fresh-pressed juice station in the morning (especially relevant if you’re on a Splash of Romance package)
This area is calmer than the main pool — particularly early mornings and late afternoons.
The Main Pool & One of the Best Toilets at Sea
The main pool area is obvious — busy, loud, fun on sea days.
What’s less obvious are the two small brown doors nearby.
Behind one of them is, quite possibly, one of the best toilets on the ship:
- Mirrored
- Floor-to-ceiling sea views
- Surprisingly serene
If you’re the kind of person who appreciates oddly excellent design details — don’t skip it.
The Scene: The Ship’s Best Hidden Calm Space
Back inside you’ll pass The Scene, described officially as an exclusive event space.
In reality, it’s:
- Air conditioned
- Quiet
- Comfortable
- Often completely empty
If you want to:
- Read
- Cool down
- Escape the pool deck
- Sit somewhere without music
This is one of the best places on the ship — and hardly anyone uses it unless there’s an event on.
Elevators, Stair Codes & Getting Unlost
Deck 15 is a key vertical connector.
Here you’ll find:
- Mid-ship elevators
- Access to Deck 16
- Staircases with colour-coded carpet stripes
Those stripes aren’t decoration — they’re navigation.
Once you know what the colours mean, you stop getting lost entirely.
The Tune Up & Aquatic Bar
On the way back outside you’ll pass The Tune Up, where you can:
- Book IV drips
- Access spa services
- Recover from a heavy night properly
Nearby is the Aquatic Bar, one of the key Sail Away champagne stations — along with Gin & Tonic.
If you want champagne without elbowing through crowds, this matters.
Grounds Club & Wrapping the Loop
We finish by re-entering the Galley through its main entrance, passing Grounds Club 2.
This location is often:
- Less busy than the main Grounds Club
- Faster for coffee
- Easier to grab and go
A small detail — but one that adds up over a week onboard.
Final Thoughts on Deck 15
Deck 15 is not just “the pool deck”.
It’s:
- A food system
- A fitness hub
- A wellness zone
- A navigation spine
- And one of the best places to escape crowds if you know where to look
If you understand Deck 15 early, your whole voyage improves.
