HI I’m Jim.
MicCheckJim is where I keep field notes from a life still in motion — travel, surf, challenges, and the occasional decision to say yes when it would be easier to say no.
I travel to chase waves, wild places, and experiences that feel earned. Sometimes that means surfing in the Maldives or exploring world-class wave pools. Other times it means uncomfortable flights, strange hotels, long boat journeys, or trips that don’t quite go to plan.
This isn’t travel for the sake of luxury.
It’s not optimisation for Instagram.
And it’s definitely not about ticking boxes.
It’s about curiosity.
About seeing what’s actually possible.
And about finding adventure whether you’re flying economy, taking on a personal challenge, or committing to a trip you’ve talked yourself out of for years.
The films I make are honest by design — the good parts, the awkward parts, and the moments in between that usually get edited out. I’m interested in how travel really feels, not just how it looks.
